Its officially fall and that means different routines and it is also the perfect time to take a look at our habits and make any needed adjustments. So, let’s take a look at the top 3 skin care tips we need to remember.

It’s a fact that when you are tired… you look tired. A lack of adequate sleep causes stress, dark circles and is known aggravate existing skin conditions including acne and eczema. Skincare products and services are absolutely essential, but adequate sleep helps to tie it all together to help you look and feel your best.

The body protects itself during the day and repairs itself at night.  As we sleep, skin repair and revival processes rev up to assist with tissue repair and regeneration. Sleep deprivation suppresses the immune system and other functions greatly reducing the efficacy of these processes.

Here are 4 quick tips for bedtime to help your skin look fresh and rested when you wake in the morning:

1 - Create and keep a nightly routine. Be sure to cleanse your skin followed by a moisturizer…at least.

2 - Start your routine earlier in the evening. The natural repair processes of your skin begins earlier in the evening, so you want to be sure to cleanse and apply your nighttime products before the Netflix coma sets in and the clock strikes midnight.

3 - Change your pillowcases frequently. Bacteria, oil and hair products can be reintroduced to the skin and cause breakouts.

4 - Make your best effort to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. With so much going on in our lives it can be difficult but…give it your best effort and we promise the rewards will be worth it.

2 - Toners can help enhance the results of products that follow. Skin is more permeable when it is moist, so the application of a serum or moisturizer while the skin is moist will assist in the efficacy of the product.

3 - Depending on the formulation, a toner can help control oil, soothe, calm, provide antioxidants, stimulate blood circulation or destroy acne-causing bacteria.

4 - The right tonor can be a great way to receive moisture for oily skin without a heavy feeling.

5 - You can also spot treat with a toner - using a clarifying toner on the T-zone.

While cleansing wipes are convenient, they aren’t cleansers. If used correctly (sans the usual tugging and pulling) they are an easy first step in your skincare routine. Water and a cleanser are necessary to effectively remove makeup, debris, bacteria, and dirt from the surface of the skin. A wipe-and-go routine will show up as uneven skin tone, texture issues, clogged pores and breakouts.
